(토요일 아침에 호프가 남편 로렌스와 이야기를 나눈다…)
Hope: I’m going to the mall. Do you want to come with me?
호프: 샤핑몰에 갈 건데 같이 갈까?
Laurence: No. I‘m not up to it.
로렌스: 아니. 안 가고 싶어.
Hope: What are you going to do today?
호프: 오늘 뭐 할 건데?
Laurence: I’m just going to lay back and rest.
로렌스: 그냥 마음 편히 쉴래.
Hope: You‘ve had a long week.
호프: 당신 이번 주에 바빴어.
Laurence: Tell me about it.
로렌스: 누가 아니래.
Hope: What do you want for dinner tonight?
호프: 오늘 저녁은 뭐 먹고 싶어?
Laurence: Let’s barbecue.
로렌스: 바비큐하자.
Hope: Good idea.
호프: 그거 좋네.
Laurence: We‘ll have some steaks.
로렌스: 스테이크 좀 먹자고.
기억할만한 표현
*lay back: 긴장을 풀다. 마음 편하게 쉬다.
“I just want to lay back this weekend.” (이번 주말엔 그냥 마음 편히 쉬고 싶어.)
*(one) has a long week (or day): 바쁜 한 주(혹은 하루)를 보내다.
“I’m glad it‘s Friday. I had a long week.” (금요일이 되니 신난다. 참 바쁜 한 주였어.)
*tell me about it: 내 말이 그말이야. 누가 아니래.
Jim: “Wow! Is it hot today!” (짐: 와! 오늘 덥네!)
Roger: “Tell me about it.” (라저: 그러게 말이야.)
